## The Short Version

This is a personal site. It has no ads and no accounts for visitors. I don't sell or share anything about you.
What the site does keep is listed below, along with how long it stays.

## What The Server Logs

Every request to aesv.io and file.aesv.io is written to an access log.
A line holds the time, your IP address, the address you asked for, the
headers your browser sent (user agent, referrer, language and the
like) and what the server answered. Cookies and authorization headers
are removed before the line is written. The log is kept for up to 90
days.

When a request changes something (a sign-in attempt, a file sent to me
through a file.aesv.io link, a webhook call), the site also writes an audit line with the same IP
address and user agent. It exists so I can see abuse and undo damage.

The server is backed up nightly. A backup can hold these logs for up
to six months after the original is gone.

## Live Presence

The cursor playground is shared. While you have it open, your pointer position
and the page you are reading are sent to other visitors as an
anonymous cursor, along with anything you do to the shared parts (the
ladybug, the slime mould). None of it is
stored. It lives in memory and is gone when you close the tab.

## Visit Counts

The site counts visits so I can see what gets read and what doesn't.
A visit records the page, the site that sent you there, your browser,
operating system, device type, screen size, language and a rough
location (country, region and city) worked out from your IP address.
It sets no cookies, keeps no IP address and cannot follow you to other
sites. The counter runs on the same server as the site, so none of it
goes to anyone else.

## Your Browser

A service worker caches the
site's own files so it loads offline. Clearing site data for aesv.io
removes all of it.

## Things That Come From Elsewhere

Album art and repository data are fetched by the server, not
your browser, so those services never see your visit. Links that leave
the site go where they say, under that site's own policy.

## Files Sent To Me

If I give you a link to send me files, what you upload is kept until
that page expires or I delete it. Files I share with you are only
reachable by their code, and they expire on the date the page shows.

## Where It Lives

The site runs on one server rented from Hetzner, in Ashburn, Virginia,
United States.

To see or delete what I hold about you, email axel@aesv.io. Logs are
not tied to names, so include your IP address and roughly when you
visited. The site is not meant for children under 13 and does not
knowingly collect anything about them.

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
